National flagship ALS/MND diagnostic and multidisciplinary care center (80%+ of all Irish ALS patients). Lead: **Prof. Orla Hardiman**, MD, MB BCh BAO, FRCPI — Professor of Neurology, Trinity College Dublin; Consultant Neurologist, Beaumont Hospital; HSE National Clinical Lead for Neurology. Co-chair of TRICALS. Editor in Chief of *Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and the Frontotemporal Degenerations* journal. Recipient of AAN Sheila Essey Award (2009), International ALS Alliance Forbes Norris Award, Palatucci Advocacy Leader Award (2004), SFI Researcher of the Year (2022), HRB Impact Award (2023), Trinity Impact Award (2022), Tom Connor Distinguished Neuroscientist Award (2021), and Lifetime Achievement Award from Taoiseach Micheál Martin (June 2025). Harvard Partners neurology residency/fellowship 1986–1991. Beaumont consultant since 1996. Founding member of ENCALS. Director, National ALS service since 1993.. Patient volume: 80%+ of all Irish ALS/MND patients — effectively a single-center national model. ~95 new ALS/MND diagnoses per year in the Republic of Ireland; Beaumont handles the clear majority of these. First multidisciplinary MND clinic in Ireland, established 1993 — pioneering feature: inclusion of voluntary organizations (IMNDA) as part of the integrated care team, bridging hospital and community. Applied research and audit projects ongoing at the ALS/MND Clinic (per ERN Euro-NMD documentation): longitudinal respiratory assessment (FVC, SVC, Peak Cough Flow, Sniff Nasal Inspiratory Pressure/SNIP as predictive markers); clinic-based shoulder injection by physiotherapists for adhesive capsulitis in MND; evaluation of cough assist in managing secretions; psychological intervention for caregiver burden; breath stacking versus cough assist; voice banking introduction; effects of dysphagia and gastrostomy feeding on quality of life. ERN Euro-NMD member — part of the European Reference Network for Rare Neuromuscular Diseases.
